If cost is a problem, then others here will can some alternate services, and the local library is also on option, but in both of those cases, selection/availability tend to be an issue. The normal Member Discount Price of many shorter (or older) books also puts them well below the credit cost threshold, so it's not necessary to use a credit, or wait for a sale on these. The most common sales are either a selection of books for $4.99 - $5.99 each, or 2-for-1 sales where you can get any 2 books from the sale selection for 1 credit. The best value however comes from the member only sales, which happen pretty regularly. Any time I am out of credits, I am offered a deal to purchase 3 credits for $36, so the titles I get with these are now only $12 each instead of $15. This is well below list price for popular titles. $15 is the most I have ever had to pay for any audiobook ever on Audible. I can use this credit on basically any 1 audio book in their massive catalog. I have the basic membership, which gives me 1 credit a month for $15. That being said, it really seems to be the best way to buy them in my experience. Well, 1st of all, with Audible you are buying audio-books, it's not a subscription service.
